Costa Rica Mid Pacific region runs from below Puntarenas in the Golfo de Nicoya to the Rio Baru before Dominical. This region is home to some of the more popular beaches, mostly due to the close proximity to San Jose. Jaco,Manuel Antonio,Quepos are the closest beach. Quepos fishing is the best in Costa Rica and good surfing at Playa Jaco and Playa Hermosa. Located a short drive from Jaco you will find the popular town of Quepos/Manuel Antonio. The town has grown in popularity mostly due to the beautiful beach and the Manuel Antonio National Park. Manuel Antonio is now one of the largest tourist towns in the country and offers a variety of hotel and dinning choices.
Continuing on from Manuel Antonio you will find smaller towns and secluded lodges along the coast as well as in the mountains. In the mountains of this region you will find the Savegre River Valley, which offers excellent white water rafting and is home to the Rafiki Safari Lodge. Along the coast right before the end of this region is the Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge. This refuge has great hiking, birding, and canopy adventure tours. Both the Rafiki Safari Lodge and Hacienda Baru are much more rustic than the hotel options you will find in Quepos.
The Mid Pacific Region offers the same quality beaches as the Guanacaste Region but travelers looking for a littler more secluded vacation may wish to head to the south of the Mid Pacific. The Mid Pacific region also enjoys the same weather as the North and South Guanacaste regions with average temperatures of 80 degrees Fahrenheit (20 ? 15 Celsius) with rain seen more in the afternoons in September - November.
